Welcome to PKU Pal, a supportive mobile app designed to help families manage Phenylketonuria (PKU) through smart features like meal tracking, photo and voice input, and personalized insights. Please read the following Terms and Conditions carefully before using the app.

By accessing or using the PKU Pal app, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

1. Use of the App

PKU Pal is intended to support individuals and families in managing PKU by offering tracking, logging, and personalized features. You agree to use the App responsibly and only for lawful and intended purposes.

2. Medical Disclaimer

PKU Pal is not a substitute for professional medical advice. All dietary and health decisions should be made in consultation with a licensed healthcare provider. The information provided in the App is intended to assist, not replace, clinical guidance.

3. Children’s Use & Parental Consent

PKU Pal is designed for use by parents, caregivers, and guardians managing PKU for children. If a child under the age of 16 uses the App, their data must be entered and managed by a parent or legal guardian. By using the App, you affirm that you are of legal age to enter into these Terms or are acting with the consent and supervision of a parent or guardian.

4. User Accounts

Creating a user account is required to access the App. You are responsible for the security of your account credentials and for any activity conducted under your account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information during registration.

5. Data Collection & Privacy

Your use of the App is subject to our Privacy Policy. In accordance with GDPR and other applicable privacy laws, we collect only the minimum personal data necessary for app functionality, including:

Dietary logs
App usage analytics
Uploaded photos and voice inputs (stored securely for a limited time which is required for processing)
User’s names and emails

You may request to view, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. We do not sell your data to third parties.

6. Third-Party Services & AI Features

PKU Pal may use trusted third-party services to enable core features, including:

Image and voice recognition for meal tracking
Cloud storage and analytics providers
PDF/Word export tools

These providers are selected for their compliance with data protection regulations and security practices. By using the App, you consent to such integrations solely for functional purposes.

7. Content Ownership

All trademarks, logos, software, and original content in the App are the property of PKU Pal sp. z o.o. and protected under intellectual property laws. Users may not reproduce, republish, or distribute content without explicit permission.

8. Subscription and Payments

Some features may require a paid subscription. Pricing, renewal terms, and cancellation policies will be clearly communicated at the time of purchase. Subscriptions are managed via the web app or a corresponding app store (e.g., Apple App Store, Google Play), depending on the version of the software you are using.

9. Limitation of Liability

PKU Pal is provided “as is.” We do not guarantee that the App will meet all user expectations or remain uninterrupted or error-free. To the fullest extent permitted by law, PKU Pal sp. z o.o. is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App for violations of these Terms, harmful conduct, or unauthorized use. You may also delete your account at any time through in-app settings or by contacting support.

11. Updates to Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms. Users will be notified of major changes within the app. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
